    Brilliant! I am a high school English teacher. The three sets of stress objects I ordered a few years ago have been great for our final small group discussion on novels they studied the last few years. However, because I only had three sets initially, all students couldn't use them at once. So awesome are they that I just ordered two more sets, son now, I have a set for each of my five classroom table groupings. Here are some uses I have found for them both in the classroom and at a Swedish language camp. 1.) Students select an object and then relate some aspect of the book that connected with that object. 2.) I also used the objects at the Swedish Language Camp where I teach in the summer. Language students choose an object that strikes them and try to recall as many Swedish words that relate to that object. 3.) We used the objects last summer with the staff at the beginning first staff meeting before the campers arrived and then at end of the summer after the campers left. We put them into a bag and had each staff member take a surprise object out of the bag and then give an impromptu talk about how that object might foreshadow their upcoming experience as a language teacher and then at the end of the summer, each staff member chose an object (they were not in a surprise bag this time but could have been) and then he or she connected the object to an experience each had while teaching Swedish this summer. 4.) Also, my daughter, who is student teaching in kindergarten this semester, uses the objects--which she gave a different meaning to which the kindergarten students memorized--to hold up and indicate using no words what behavior or response she wanted next. For example, if she held up the heart, the kindergarten students knew they needed to share something they felt. If she held up the question mark, they held up their hands to indicate they had a question. If she held up the ear, that meant they needed to listen better at that moment. The principal was so impressed how well the students responded to the objects. 5.) Finally, both my daughter and I have also allowed the objects to be held by students, too, when they needed to focus better by holding the objects to "keep their hands quiet and their minds engaged." Believe it or not, this has helped both kindergarten students and high school students alike. These stress objects are fabulous! Many teachers want to borrow them for their own classroom use, too. Thanks for making them. I am sure you will find many teachers loving them.

    Great teacher PD and Formative assessment tool and activity

    This makes a great activity for presentations and formative assessment. It is easily adaptable, such as someone holing the foot for, "What do you see as the next step in the process?" or " What path did you take to get where you are?" Really promotes open ended questions. Great ice-breaker also.

    Many Pros; One Con

    I've given my pros and cons already, so I don't want to repeat myself, BUT, I will say that the carrying tote was surprisingly nice and well-made! I knew from the pictures that I was getting something that only represented caucasian skin, and I have made some adjustments to the set to get around that. The brain is rainbow- colored, and I think the hand and foot could have been blue or purple or green; making these only in fair skin colors is surprising to me in 2010.
