Plan your training for maximum impact!
Transform the way you teach, train, and facilitate learning with Angela Agresto's Brain Building Blueprints Flip Book—a dynamic, easy-to-use course development tool that simplifies lesson planning while ensuring engagement, interactivity, and retention. Whether you're a corporate trainer, classroom teacher, instructor, facilitator, or coach, this innovative flip book provides a brain-friendly approach to designing impactful learning experiences in just minutes.
Built around the 4Cs Brain-Based Instructional Design Model (inspired by master trainer Sharon Bowman), this flip book gives you instant access to ready-to-use learning activities that work for any subject, skill level, or learning environment—live or virtual.
4Cs BRAIN-BASED INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN MODEL
The 4Cs Model is a brain-based approach that enhances learning by following the natural way the brain processes and retains information -- by incorporating movement, talking, images, writing, breaks, and more. This flip book organizes activities according to these four stages, helping you effortlessly design effective training sessions.
C1 – CONNECTIONS
Before introducing new content, help learners connect to each other, to the instructor, and to their prior knowledge on the topic. This step is critical because activating prior knowledge makes learning more meaningful and increases retention.
C2 – CONCEPTS
Introduce new concepts and material through multi-sensory, interactive activities. Be sure to keep instruction short, engaging, and varied, use visuals, storytelling, movement, or hands-on experiences, and make learning fun and memorable. After all, the brain learns best when information is experienced in multiple ways.
C3 – CONCRETE PRACTICE
Reinforce new knowledge by allowing learners to practice using their new skills. Structure activities that allow learners to engage in review activities, teach others what they've learned, and applying the learning to new situations. By using new knowledge, brain connections and retention become stronger.
C4 – CONCLUSIONS
Wrap up learning with reflection and application activities. Include activities through which learners can summarize key takeaways, evaluate and celebrate learning, and develop action plans for real-world application. Each of these will help solidify learning and make it stick in the long-term.
HOW TO USE THE FLIP BOOK
Using Brain Building Blueprints is as simple as flipping through the pages!
- Step 1: Identify which 4Cs stage you need an activity for—Connections, Concepts, Concrete Practice, or Conclusions.
- Step 2: Flip through the corresponding section and choose an activity that fits your learners and setting.
- Step 3: Follow the step-by-step instructions, complete with timing estimates and material lists (if needed).
- Step 4: Implement the activity and watch your learners engage, interact, and retain more effectively!
EASY-TO-FACILITATE BRAIN BASED LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Every activity is designed to align with how the brain learns best. For each activity described in the flip book, you'll find:
- Clear Step-by-Step Instructions – Includes detailed timing estimates so you can plan efficiently.
- Easy Set-Up & Materials List – If any materials are needed, they're clearly listed for hassle-free preparation.
- Time Estimates for Easy Planning – More than 50% of the activities take less than 5 minutes to implement!
The 4Cs Model is brain-based, meaning it enhances retention, engagement, and application of knowledge. Whether you're leading a workshop, running a classroom, or facilitating training, this flip book ensures you deliver memorable and effective learning experiences—with ease!
Take the stress out of lesson planning and create powerful, brain-friendly learning experiences with Brain Building Blueprints!

Emotional Intelligence is a skill that allows people to be more effective in their roles at work and at home. It’s not just touchy-feely stuff and being able to name your feelings. Rather, it enhances employee retention and engagement, customer service, collaboration, and crisis management.
5 SKILLS OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Emotional Intelligence (a.k.a. EQ) is associated with five skills. Develop your teams’ EQ by facilitating conversations that help participants grow more aware of their motivations, measure their reactions to difficult situations, and hone techniques to manage those emotions in empathy and social acumen. The five skills are:
- Self-Awareness [SA]
- Motivation [MO]
- Self-Regulation [SR]
- Empathy [EM]
- Social Skills [SS]
EQ THUMBALL PROMPTS
Each conversation prompt on the Emotional Intelligence Thumball indicates the skill with which it is associated. Use the two-letter EQ skill codes (MO, SA, SR, EM, and SS), to build awareness of the skills, while building the skills themselves!
For example:
- "What contributes to distrust?" is followed by [EM] for Empathy
- "How could someone regain composure after snapping?" lists [SR] for Self-Regulation
- "What holds you back from being your best YOU?" has [SA] for Self-Awareness
30 prompts are listed on the Thumball, specifically:
- Self-Awareness [SA] - 7 prompts
- Motivation [MO] - 5 prompts
- Self-Regulation [SR] - 5 prompts
- Empathy [EM] - 6 prompts
- Social Skills [SS] - 7 prompts

MULTIPLE WAYS TO FACILITATE THE GAME
Adjust your play to make more or less of those skill areas:
- Have recipients of the ball read the question aloud before answering.
- Ask other players to guess which skill is referenced by conversation prompt.
- Discuss why that prompt is categorized that way and what other skills might be addressed
- Answer the question for yourself
- Have other players answer the same question
- Discuss differences among the answers
- If a player isn't sure how to answer, invite them "take a pass," consult a colleague, or choose another prompt
- Don't rush! Remember that thoughtful answers sometimes take a moment to think about. Offer to come back to the person for their answer after they've had time to consider it.

Here's what people are saying about this "Trainers Exclusive":
"... I just wanted to write and tell you -- what an AWESOME, well made, easy to use product. I will use this with my students and during training sessions with the staff. I love the storage bag that came with it has a home for everything. This was a well thought out product and I can't wait to put it to use!" --Ryan from Hampstead Central School
"For 10 years we have been playing a Jeopardy-style game as a review for one of our classes, and it has always been a challenge (and sometimes source of great controversy) to figure out which team was first to answer the question. We've tried raising hands and other types of buzzers, but the teams that weren't chosen frequently argued that the judge just didn't see them, or that their buzzer sounded a split second before the other team's. It was stressful for the instructors who were leading the activity and distracted the students from the review as they got all wound up about whether the other team was unfairly getting more chances to answer questions. This takes all the subjectivity out of it. The flashing light is up there for everybody to see. It's just what we needed to get the focus off the process and onto the content. Makes the instructors happier too, since they don't have to make any more controversial judgment calls." --WV Catherder from Harpers Ferry

** TIPS **
STAND-ALONE BUZZER: If you don't have time for a long Jeopardy-like game, you can also put together a quick 5-10 question quiz and keep score the old -fashioned way, on a chalk board or whiteboard.
SOFTWARE INTERFACE: If you want to check the software interface, plug in the USB cable from the light tower to your computer. Then open any sort of word document. When you tap one of the colored buttons, you should see it type a number 1-2-3-4-5-6. If no number appears, we might have a connectivity issue.
BATTERY CHECK: Be sure to test your buzzer before any event. If the unit is not working, it's always good to check the power and/or the batteries in the touch pads.

BACKING INFORMATION
DocU-Sleeves can be ordered with NO BACKING or with your CHOICE OF BACKING, WHICH TRAINERS WAREHOUSE APPLIES FREE OF CHARGE SAVING YOU TIME.
Each DocuSleeve is inspected and placed into it's own poly bag to ensure its quality
** TIPS **
There are literally hundreds of uses for our plastic sleeves. We see them in use for certificates, job aids, real estate listings, checklists, and evacuation signs, to name just a few.
No matter how you use DocU-Sleeves, here are just a few tips:
- ORIENTATION
- You can put sheets in vertically or horizontally (portrait or landscape).
- For vertical use, we recommend leaving the opening at the top, unless it's posted outside and you want to protect your document from water. Even if the opening is at the bottom, your document is unlikely to slide out.
- BACKINGS
- VELCRO/OMNI - If you're not sure whether a recipient will use the document protectors on a plaster or fabric wall, choose the VELCRO/OMNI backing, so that they can use it on either surface.
- OMNI - the gentle adhesive will not harm painted walls.
- MAGNETS - these are best used for metal surfaces like file cabinets. They are light-weight magnets so if you stuff too many sheets in the plastic sleeves, it might be too heavy and slide down.
- CONVENIENCE: We send the DocU-Sleeves with backings already attached.
- DRY-ERASE APPLICATIONS
- LAMINATION: Use these plastic sleeves for paper in lieu of lamination.
- DRY-ERASE: Put a blank sheet of paper inside (or some sort of worksheet, chart or form), then use dry-erase markers on the document protectors. You'll see they wipe clean nicely. Plus, you can slide in colored paper, worksheets, and forms.
- LONG LIFE
- Slide sheets in and out as often as you need. They're not flimsy and so they'll stand up well to lots of transitions.
- If using OMNI tabs, the adhesive may lessen if you take them up and down frequently, but feel free to get a bigger backup supply of OMNI TABS!
- DocU-Sleeves placed in direct sunlight or in very bright areas may yellow over time.

The Power of Perception Leadership Activities take participants on a journey of walking in others' shoes and seeing the world from new perspectives. As the group works out challenges, wearing different-colored glasses, they quickly understand the reality of others not seeing the world through the same lenses they do... literally.
Using John Riordan's workbook and course, facilitators can help teams, leaders, and managers recognize, understand, and adjust their own perceptions and others'.
FACILITATION KIT INCLUDES…
The game includes all you need for 3 to 18 players.
- 3 Facilitation/Participant workbooks
- 6 Red Glasses
- 6 Blue Glasses
- 6 Yellow Glasses
EXTRA SET OF GLASSES INCLUDES…
- 1 set (3 pairs) of glasses -- (one of each color: red, blue, yellow)
POWER OF PERCEPTION LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES
In the workbook, find a complete course on the power of perceptions, including:
- Introduction – explaining Chris Argyris’ Ladder of Inference, exploring how the information on which we focus becomes the filter through which we lend meaning, make assumptions, and draw conclusions.
- Introductory Activity – in a series of two warm-up exercises, players must add up a series of numbers and agree on the sum of those numbers. Wearing the glasses, they will arrive at different totals, and there the negotiations (and learning) begin.
- People Perceptions Activity – In a second activity, participants are asked to evaluate potential new teammates based on a set of criteria. When asked which candidate they’re drawn to, players will realize that they’ve come to different conclusions depending on the information that’s most apparent to them. Debriefs can focus on self-perceptions, cultural norms, past experience, stereotypes, affinity bias, and more.
- Emotional Intelligence Activity – the third activity asks participants to consider a person’s feelings. Again, perceptions of the situation are colored by the glasses they’re wearing. Beyond building emotion-related vocabularies, debriefs can explore projection bias, attribution bias, cultural context, assumptions, mood congruence, and more.
-
Decision-Making Activity – In the fourth and final activity, participants must agree on a sum of numbers so that they can make a joint decision. The activity explores the need to:
- Begin with dialogue, not debate
- Strive first for understanding, not the quickest answer
- Differentiate constructive and destructive language when
- Negotiating decisions when everyone isn’t in agreement
-
Debrief – a series of wrap-up questions, engage the group to discuss:
- Topics on which team members currently have different opinions or perspectives
- Ways you can manage different perspectives going forward.
DEMO
FROM THE DEVELOPER, JOHN RIORDAN
Energize your group with your very own Pipeline Game. Give each participant one short length of half pipe and challenge the group to deliver a ball down the pipes from the starting point to the finish line. A successful pipeline team building activity requires participating groups to exercise excellent communication, creativity and teamwork.
TRANSFORM GROUPS INTO WELL-FUNCTIONING TEAMS WITH A PIPELINE CHALLENGE
- Energize a group
- Build communication skills
- Practice group problem solving
- Practice goal setting
Pipeline Game -- also known as Pipeline Challenge or Gutter Ball - is effective with kids, teenagers and adults, and can be played indoors or out. Choose this activity when you need to energize the group into a team, or to emphasize the importance of each member's actions in a team.
FEATURES
- 12 high-quality, sturdy 15.25" half-pipes; Each pipe has an inside diameter of 2-1/2 inches
- 3 balls (marble, ball bearing, golf ball)
- Handy nylon storage bag
- Facilitation notes on how to play and process the exercise
DEBRIEFING SUGGESTIONS
As with most team building games, the Pipeline Game will be most effective if you take the time fully debrief the experience. Start with questions that specifically address the dynamics that played out during the game. Understand what happened and how the experience made each player feel. After that, shift your questions and conversation to the real-world learning that can be applied from the game. Consider handful of questions to debrief the pipeline team building activity, such as:
- How well did the group cope with this challenge?
- What, if any, goals did your group set? How? Did you succeed?
- What skills did it take to be successful as a group?
- What creative solutions were suggested and how were they received
- How can you compare this challenge to other situations (e.g., at school, home or work)?
Group Size: 8 to 12 ideal, but can be done with 6 to 14
Time: ~15-60 mins

Whether you have ADD/ADHD, consider yourself a kinesthetic learner, or just tend to fidget, Traxx can help you stay focused, absorb information better, and feel calmer during meetings, study sessions, or long workdays.

In this game of communication and collaboration, blindfolded players must figure out which of the shapes that they hold is a duplicate. Success requires clear and concise communication, active listening, and collaboration, as several of the shapes could be easily confused with each other.
The facilitator will instruct players,
“Without looking at your shapes, determine which players have matching shapes.” Optionally, you can let them know that only two players will have matching shapes. Or, you can throw in more matches and NOT tell them how many will be a match (this is much more difficult!)
CONTENTS OF SHAPE-UP
This communication and teambuilding game contains:
- 26 wooden shapes (2 each of 13 different shapes)
- 10 blindfolds
MORE TEAM BUILDING FACILITATION OPTIONS
In addition to the Shape-Up game, facilitation notes include 5 additional game ideas including:
-
PARTNER PAIR-UPS - players use the 13 different shapes to find a partner (one with either a matching or complementary shape)
-
BEHIND-THE-BACK PARTNER PAIR-UPS - without seeing the shape that they hold, players must find the person who has their matching shape.
-
SHAPE-UP ICEBREAKER INTROS - using the shapes a metaphors, players pick a shape that reminds them of a personal experience (or a learning goal; or a characteristic they’re proud of; etc.)
-
METAPHORICAL DISCUSSIONS & DEBRIEFS - players choose a shape that represents an observation, question, or learning point, and share their metaphorical reflections with the whole group.
- SHAPE-ly DEBRIEF & REFLECTION QUESTIONS - conduct a "S.H.A.P.E.ly" debrief
S – SHAPES - discuss what was difficult about describing the shapes
H – HELPFUL/HURTFUL - identify approaches that were helpful or hurtful to the effort
A – ACTIONS - focus on actions and break-through moments
P - PREPERATION - draw out the impact of preparation as teams approached the challenge
E – END RESULTS - discuss the group's satisfaction with their end-result

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE CONVERSATION PROMPTS
On each card, below the conversation starter question, you'll see the EQ skill that the question addresses or develops.
PLAYING WITH CONVERSATION DECKS
Pairs of 2 or 3
To play, deal a card to each participant. Have participants stand, find a partner, and discuss the questions on each of their cards. When their conversation has run its course, invite them to swap cards and hold their arm in the air, indicating to other players that they're ready to find a new partner. Repeat this process as time allows.
Table Talks
If your group isn't too big or you want to build camaraderie at a table, have each person in the group choose a card and answer the question. If you have enough time, ask each speaker a couple of follow-up questions. Alternatively, have others at the table answer those same questions for themselves. Then, swap cards, or pick new cards from the top of the deck.
1-2-4-All
Expert Trainer, Nora Gerber, shares facilitation notes on using the 1-2-4-All approach with the Emotional Intelligence UNZIP-IT! Deck. Tips include:
- Writing a note-to-self
- Pairing up to discuss stories of different experiences
- Huddling in groups - to discuss each of the four skills in more depth:
-
- Self-Awareness [SA
- Motivation [MO]
- Self-Regulation [SR]
- Empathy [EM]
- Social Skills [SS]
- Returning to the big group to explore opportunities for individual and group development.

UNZIP-it!™ WITH THE COMMON GROUND DECK
As you try to generate conversation and build new friendships and relationships, a key challenge is finding “common ground” experiences and interests that you share with others. This deck helps to uncover these commonalities.
COMMON GROUND PROMPTS
The Common Ground discussion prompts help build new friendships and relationships, by helping you explore experiences and interests that you share with others.
Prompts will help players to delve into new topics that draw out commonalities and shared experiences, for instance:
- Time: Ways to spend free time, weekends, vacations, etc.
- Favorites: Favorite foods, activities, apps, show, books
- People: Family and friends who impact your life
- Growth: Goals, talents, or skills you'd like to develop
- Moolah: What you'd spend money on
- You: claims to fame and more...

Create an amazing community mosaic with these 43 interlocking tessellation puzzles pieces. Have every participant illustrate a piece with their goals, interests, interpretations, personal history, etc.
Think of your Community Mosaic as a quilt for all ages. The pieces fit together any-which-way, making this fun for small groups or huge ones!
Invite participants to decorate their puzzle piece in their own style and in accordance with your preferred theme.
TRAINING & FACILITATION IDEAS
A few of our customers shared these applications and ideas:
- Have participants "decorate" their piece to reflect a strength (a leadership strength, facilitation strength, something they're good at, etc. Use those either at the start of your session as a means of introducing participants to each other, or at the end of a session, as a feel-good closer.
- Consider including 6 qualities or functions on each piece -- one on each prong, and discuss how each of those could impact others in the group.
- Move the pieces around like gears to remind groups of how different aspects and/or contributions can affect or "roll off" on others.
- To explore the interdependence of different roles, functions, or individuals, illustrate each on mosaic piece. Have groups discuss how those roles "touch" and impact many others. Revolve them like gears to appreciate the many others they might impact.
- Organize and reorganize the pieces to discuss where individuals see themselves in the team or organization.
COMMUNITY MOSAIC TESSELLATION FEATURES
Some call the interlocking shapes "puzzle pieces." Others think of them as flowers or snowflakes. Whatever you call them, the set features:
- 43 interlocking shapes
- Every piece fits together with every other piece
- Uncoated surface takes all sorts of markers (even watercolors), without smudging
- Individual pieces measures about 3.5" wide
FILL 'EM UP WITH ANY MARKERS
You can use any sort of markers, crayons, glitter, etc. The more colorful, the better. You'll want to remind participants that the mosaic will look best if everyone decorates the whole surface of their piece, including the tabs that stick out the sides of each piece. If participants would like to practice their artwork or try different ideas, encourage them to trace the shape onto a sheet of paper.
A PUZZLE AS BIG AS YOUR GROUP!
If you like symmetry, these layouts show several possible configurations using 36 to 43 pieces. For larger projects just keep adding pieces to reach the desired size. This unique tesselation can increase in size infinitely!

FIDGET TO FOCUS
Are you concerned that fidget toys will cause more harm than good? That they'll actually cause more distraction? You're not alone. However, many workshop and meeting attendees swear by them. They say, "OMG, with fidget toys we just had our best meeting ever!" Office fidget toys are found to create a more playful and relaxed environment, thereby reducing stress. They also use up "floating attention" -- the wandering attention that likely kept us alive in prehistoric times. Nowadays, learners who have ADD/ADHD, are naturally fidgety, or consider themselves kinesthetic learners find that fidget toys allow them to remain focused for longer periods of time and absorb new material more quickly!

FAQS
Q: How many people can this set handle?
A: This version includes 4-player buzzers, but they're large enough that a team of players can each access the P.A.D. Facilitators can expand the system by adding more P.A.D.s (up to 36 players total).
Q: Can the facilitator see who rang in first?
A: While the facilitator's P.A.D. will show that someone has rung in, it doesn't identify who. They must look at the player pads to see which has the green light, or the player can identify themselves. All other buzzers will have a red light.
Q: How does the facilitator control the game?
A: The facilitator's remote has several buttons. To control the game, there are two options: The facilitator can press CONTINUE (blocks previous winners from buzzing in again until everyone has had a turn) or RESET (all can buzz again immediately). They can also adjust the sound level. Finally, a short press of the right/wrong buttons will play a correct (bing-bing) or incorrect (bzzzzz) sound; a long press of those buttons will trigger the system to indicate which player has had the most correct or incorrect answers.
Q: What’s the range of this wireless classroom buzzer system?
A: About 80 feet in open space, reliable in most training rooms and classrooms.
Q: Can I connect this to software?
A: Yes. The facilitator unit includes a USB port to integrate with compatible game-show software.
Transform ordinary learning activities into extraordinary game shows with our buzzer games for the classroom. With this dynamic participation tool, the Me First wireless buzzers involve EVERY player. MAKE GAMES EASY TO FACILITATE & FUN TO PLAY!
- ASK your question.
- PARTICIPANTS BUZZ IN with their responses by pushing on the dome of their P.A.D.
- QUICKLY SEE RESULTS: When someone buzzes in, the Facilitator Unit lights up GREEN. The student to buzz in first will see their P.A.D. turn GREEN, signaling that it's their turn to answer the question. All other participants’ P.A.D.s will light up RED until the facilitator presses the CONTINUE or RESET button.
- INDICATE RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWER: If a player answers incorrectly, the facilitator can press the red “WRONG” button, to create a buzzing sound; If the participant provides a correct answer when playing, the facilitator can press the green “RIGHT” button to make a DING-DING sound. The correct player's P.A.D. will also flash to indicate that they answered correctly. Me First wireless buzzers track this data for the entirety of the game, making buzzer games for the classroom insanely fun.
- CHOOSE CONTINUE OR RESET: By pressing CONTINUE, the facilitator will “lock out” the P.A.D.(s) that have already been green, and turn them RED. All other P.A.D.s will light up YELLOW, signifying that those remaining players may again attempt to buzz-in. Facilitators can keep pressing CONTINUE after subsequent questions until all players have had a chance to answer.
At any time, facilitators can press RESET to turn all Participant P.A.D.s back to YELLOW and enable everyone to buzz-in. Transform Jeopardy-like game shows and other fast-paced learning games into exciting, memorable events, with a Me First! buzzer game for the classroom.
