A Playbook of 5 Games to Energize Teams at Work

Teach, energize, and engage learners with games and learning events using the Trainers Warehouse Me First! Gane Show Buzzer System. Our colleague and friend, Jamie Graceffa, developer of the Kind Card Deck, was kind enough to share these 5 great games with us!

    1) WORKPLACE JEOPARDY

Great for learning, alignment, and friendly competition

Best for: Team alignment, onboarding, strategy refresh
    Group size: 6–30
    Time: 20–40 minutes

    How it works

    • Create Jeopardy-style categories such as:
      • Company Values
      • Our Customers
      • How We Work
      • Team Norms
      • Fun Facts
    • Teams buzz in using the buttons to answer.
    • Correct answers get a BING BING; incorrect answers get a dramatic BZZZ.

    Why it works

    • Reinforces shared knowledge
    • Encourages participation from quieter voices
    • Makes learning feel light and engaging

    Debrief prompt:
What surprised you? What do we take for granted that not everyone knows?

    2) TEAM FEUD

    (Company version of Family Feud)

Best for: Culture, employee experience, connection
    Group size: 10–50
    Time: 20–30 minutes

    How it works

    • Survey employees in advance (or improvise live).
    • Questions might include:
      • “Name something that helps you do your best work.”
      • “What builds trust on a team?”
      • “What gets in the way of collaboration?”
    • Teams buzz in to guess the most popular answers.

    Why it works

    • Gives employees a voice
    • Surfaces shared frustrations and wins
    • Creates laughter and bonding

    Debrief prompt:
What patterns are we seeing? What should we lean into — or address — as a team?

    3) THE LEADERSHIP LIGHTENING ROUND

    Fast, reflective, and powerful

Best for: Leadership development, manager training
    Group size: 6–20
    Time: 15–20 minutes

    How it works

    • The host reads leadership scenarios or statements:
    • “This builds psychological safety.”
    • “This damages trust.”
    • Participants buzz green if they agree, red if they disagree.
    • Discuss why people chose differently.

    Why it works

    • Encourages critical thinking
    • Reveals different leadership perspectives
    • Normalizes healthy disagreement

    Debrief prompt:
What leadership behaviors matter most in moments of pressure or change?

    4) VALUES IN ACTION

    Simple, high-impact, values-based play

    Best for: Culture, values, decision-making
    Group size: 5–25
    Time: 15–25 minutes

    How it works

    • Present short workplace scenarios.
    • Ask: “Is this aligned with how we want to show up?”
    • Teams buzz green for “yes,” red for “no.”
    • Discuss the nuance — there’s rarely one right answer.

    Why it works

    • Brings values out of posters and into practice
    • Builds shared understanding of “how we work”
    • Encourages respectful dialogue

    Debrief prompt:
Where do we need more clarity or consistency in living our values?

    5) THE CHALLENGE BREAKER

Perfect for simplifying complex problems and opportunities

    Best for: Strategy, problem-solving, innovation
    Group size: 6–20
    Time: 25–45 minutes

    How it works

    • Present a real challenge or opportunity facing the team.
    • Offer possible options, assumptions, or next steps.
    • Teams buzz green if they believe it moves things forward, red if it doesn’t.
    • Use discussion to refine and simplify the approach.

    Why it works

    • Makes complex issues tangible
    • Reduces overthinking
    • Helps teams focus on what really matters

    Debrief prompt:
What’s the simplest next step we can take? What can we stop doing?
